Seven years ago today I married my best friend. And by some miracle, we are still married today. By saying miracle, I don’t mean that it has been a particularly hard 7 years. I mean that marrying a women like Cassie can only be a good and gracious gift from a good and gracious God.
I recently had a conversion with a friend about marriage and parenting. He said that when he became a father many years ago he was nervous that he might lose the women he had fallen in love with; his best friend. It really caused me to think about my wife, my marriage, and my children. I realized that I had a much different reality, not better, just different. When Cassie became a mother I met the realist version of her that has ever lived. Watching Cassie parent our children is like watching Van Gogh paint or Bach play the piano. She was made to love those children well and in a few short years I think that she has become the best mom in the whole world. :)
Watching our marriage grow into a family and watching Cassie grow into the incredible women, mother and wife she is today is my greatest earthly joy.
So, on this anniversary I think the best and greatest way for me to celebrate my beautiful wife is to celebrate her in her fullness as the incredible wife and mother that she is.
The photos below are some of the photos I took of our family while on our trip to Washington last month. We had dinner at a wonderful little place called Sizzle Pie. There was nothing particularly special about that night; it was just a sweet night with my family. Dinner, ice cream and Seattle sunshine. Because of joining Cassie in parenting, it is nights like these that I cherish the most and I look forward to many more.
I am going to be sharing more photos of this wonderfully simple and special trip over the next week.
I love you babe. Marry me again?
