About once a year Cassie, the kids, and I get to head down and spend a week on the beach in Florida with my in-laws. It is truly a highlight of my year every year. And I hate the beach. Seriously, whats the point?
Sand? Seashells? Warm water? Dolphins swimming near by? Kids laughing? Cold drinks? ...ok, wait. I guess all of that is pretty great but I just have never been a beach guy. The very first time we went to FL together we had only been at the beach for about 30 minutes when I asked Cass what we were going to do next? She looked at me like I was silly, "This is it. We are here."
In the 5 years or so that we have been heading down with Frank and Jodie (ma and pa) I have not only gotten used to the slow relaxed beach life but I have actually come to enjoy it! Way better though than all of those fun beach things is the great time laughing, talking, and spending time with my great family. And now that we have the kiddos along we break up the beach time with lots of nap time and park time. It's perfect.
We had such a blast for the week we were down there. Mom and Dad even kept the kids for one of the days so Cassie and I could go on a much needed date day. It was such a treat to go cruisin' in our rental van with my beautiful bride.
One last thing. James and Lucy are super cute. SUPER cute! But they don't hold a candle to the beach versions of James and Lucy.
For all of my unmarried friends— I hope you can marry into a family as great as the Buchholz family. For my married friends— sorry. Mine are better. Frank and I even snuck on to a private golf course to hit a few balls. He's a rebel.
Love you, Mom and Dad. Thanks for taking us with you! See you next year.
